Police are appealing for information after a Loughborough man was left in a serious condition following a stabbing on New Year's Eve.
Officers were called to a flat on Cordell Road at around 4.45pm on the 31st December, after reports that a man had been stabbed.
A cordon remains around the scene of the crime as police carry out forensic examinations.
The man is currently in hospital and in serious condition.
Detective Inspector Chris Brett, who is overseeing the incident, is urging anyone with information about the attack to get in touch with police..
He said: “This man has sustained some very serious injuries and is currently in hospital receiving treatment.
“We are treated this as an isolated incident and it’s important we build a complete picture of the events leading up to this man being injured and establish exactly what happened.
“I would therefore urge anyone who has any information about this assault to get in touch.
"Maybe you saw someone or a group of people leave the flat in a hurry and can provide a description of them or the direction they went? Or perhaps you suspect who may be responsible?
“Any information you have could assist our investigation, especially at this early stage, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
