Man arrested over Cheshire off-license stabbing

Detectives have arrested a man in connection to a stabbing at a Cheshire off-license.


The man, 26, was arrested on Saturday, 9th January on suspicion of section 18 assault and is currently in police custody.


At around 6.05am on Friday 8th January, the man was looking at the contents of a fridge in a Premier store in Alsager, when he was approached by a staff member who asked him if he needed help.


The man then stabbed the shop worker in the abdomen before fleeing the store on foot.


The victim was rushed to the Royal Stoke Hospital where she remains in a 'stable' condition.


Detective Inspector, Claire Jesson said: “Understandably the local community Is shocked at what has happened. I’d like to reassure those in the local area that our enquiries are continuing and we are doing everything we can to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and who is responsible.


“Officers will remain in the area over the coming days and anyone with any concerns is urged to speak to a local officer.”
