A teenage boy and a man were arrested and two knives were seized after police investigated a disturbance report.
Officers were called to Carter Gate, Newark, at around midnight on the 7th of March after being informed that a man had made threats towards a member of the public in the street.
A 22-year-old man was detained at the scene and a knife was recovered. He was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a bladed article.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested a short time later on suspicion of possessing a bladed article, and another knife was seized.
Inspector Matthew Ward, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “There are no excuses for going out armed with a knife, and people who choose to do so will be dealt with positively and robustly by the legal system."
Both suspects were later released under investigation.
