Victim of fatal Newham stabbing named
A man who was stabbed to death in Newham on 29th December, 2020, has been named as 28-year-old Abiola Olalekan Akerele.
Police were called to Stondon Walk, East Ham at 3:18pm after being alerted to the assault of a man.
Officers travelled to the scene with London Ambulance Service, who discovered that Akerele was the victim of a brutal stabbing.
Despite the best efforts of London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance, Akerele was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem investigation found that the cause of death was a wound to the heart.
At 11pm on the same day, an 18-year-old male was arrested at an address in Newham on suspicion of murder. He was charged with murder on New Year's Day.

A further two people were later arrested on suspicion of murder.
Detective Inspector Joanna Yorke from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide) said: “Our investigation is continuing at pace and we are working tirelessly to give Abiola's family the answers they deserve.
"This murder took place in daylight, in a residential area, at a time when we know many people were in their homes. I believe that there will be people in the local community who either saw, heard or know something about this incident. I urge those people to get in touch."
