Woman, 26, named in fatal Lambeth stabbing

A 26-year-old woman who was stabbed to death in Lambeth on Sunday evening has been named as Azaria Williams.

Police were alerted to a disturbance on Clapham Road, Lambeth, at around 9pm where they later discovered that a woman had been stabbed.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, Mrs Williams could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mark Alexander, 27, was arrested shortly after the attack had taken place and was later charged with murder.

Alexander appeared in custody at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today and is next due to appear at the Old Bailey tomorrow.

Specialist detectives at Metropolitan Police are currently investigating.
